Not only did 2017 welcome a stunning debut season of the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship, but history was made as Ana Carrasco became the first female to win a world championship race. Storming to victory in the seventh round of the season in Portugal, her feat was one which caught attention all around the world.

Battling from third position on the grid with her ETG Racing machine around the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, the Spanish rider brought the fight to her competitors right until the final lap. Under sunny September skies in the Algarve, fans were treated to an 11 lap thriller which saw the victory decided by 0.053s over the line. Carrasco kept her cool as she rode her Kawasaki Ninja 300 to the victory, beating her season best result of seventh, and in turn the fellow 36 male competitors.
